About the Evans
We are Dan and Barb Evans, with our children Caleb and Audrey. We have been missionaries with Cadence International for the past 17 years, ministering in Germany as a youth pastor for American military teens. In the past few years our hearts have also felt a tug toward the young soldiers and it would seem that God has slowly been preparing us for this transition.
Currently we are looking for new partners to join our team and support us in our ministry.
About the Alaska Mountain Military Ministry
Alaska is beautiful, mountainous, and endless in its opportunity for mountain adventure ministry. But more than that, Anchorage is ripe for reaching out and ministering to the young airmen/soldiers (ages 18-25) and their families.
We will be working along side chaplains at both Elmendorf Air Force Base and Fort Richardson Army Post. These are neighboring bases that share a fence line. Chaplains are a key piece in our ministry. It is our desire to come alongside them, to enhance their ongoing ministry and to be a team player in reaching their soldiers/airmen for Jesus Christ. Currently there are a number of chaplains who are really behind us beginning this new ministry for their soldiers. One chaplain even mentioned that our ministry would be an “answer to his two years of praying for someone to reach soldiers in this way.” We are thrilled God has chosen us to answer this prayer!
Prayer Requests for Our Ministry
- Renewing our relationships with people and churches and making new friends along the way
- Developing new “partners” to join us
- Chaplains to remain receptive and to continue to open doors for this ministry
- Young airmen/soldiers to be receptive to a new style of ministry
- A good ministry vehicle that keeps us all safe on these snowy Alaska roads
- A good school system and friends for Caleb and Audrey
- Family teamwork and sanity during our months of travel
- New friends for us to grow alongside in our marriage, parenting and relationship with Jesus
